Observation:  After reaching an extreme level with 30% of the students having undeclared majors in the mid 1990’s, SSU has now returned to historic levels of students with undeclared majors. This decline in “undeclared majors” occurred from 1998-2001. Since 2003 "undeclared majors" has remained below 20%.
1. A student's "Official Major Program" is the program formally declared as a major and on file in the office of the University Registrar. There are cases in which a student intends to "change" a major but may not record the fact officially by completing the proper forms. There may be cases in which students have filed proper forms, but the forms remain unrecorded. In either situation, there may arise discrepancies between what an academic department or student may think is a student's major and what the Registrar's records indicate is that student's major.
2. In cases where new programs lack 3 or 7 years of data, averages are accumulated based on the number of years for which we have data available.
